किसी को घर में रहने का दुख
किसी को ना रहने के लिए घर होता है
मानवीय पीड़ा का भी आखिर
आर्थिक स्तर होता है


परदेस में तो हम भी थे
दूसरा देश नहीं तो क्या प्रान्त था
अपने ना चाहे साथ थे
पेट तो लेकिन शांत था
हम को घर पहुँचाने के लिए
फिर क्यों कोई जहाज नहीं आया
हमारे घर जाने के समर्थन में
क्यूँ ये सभ्य समाज नहीं आया
क्यूँ वेदी पे चढ़ने के लिए हमेशा
हमारा ही सर होता है
मानवीय पीड़ा का भी आखिर
आर्थिक स्तर होता है

शराब के ठेकों पर भीड़
हाँ वो तुम्हारी मजबूरी थी
हमारी और तुम्हारी प्राथमिकताओं में
जाने कितनी सदियों की दूरी थी
रोटी राशन के चक्कर में
जीवन ही बन गया हाला
और तुम्हारा दुःख ये है
आज मिला नहीं ब्रांड मेरा वाला
कहीं नशे से टूटे घर
और कहीं रहने को टूटा घर होता है
मानवीय पीड़ा का भी आखिर
आर्थिक स्तर होता है
वोट हमारा भी एक ही है
इस जनतंत्र के छलावे में
माना दिया है कई बार इस को
आके किसी के बहकावे में
एक ही दिल है एक ही जीवन
तेरा भी और मेरा भी
फिर क्यों हैं इतना उजियारा
तेरे घर का अँधेरा भी
तू जितना बहा देता है अपनी नालियों में
उतना तो हम को न उम्र भर मयस्सर होता है
मानवीय पीड़ा का भी आखिर
आर्थिक स्तर होता है

This poem is dedicated to Rampukar Pandit, a migrant worker from Bihar who could not see his dying son as he was stuck in Delhi due to Corona.
